The history of the Resort Cinema is inseparable from the history of the Resort and the city of Staraya Russa. In 1866, according to the project of N.K. Benois, a resort theater was built. The names of famous theater actors are associated with the resort theater: M.G. Savina, M.F.Andreeva, N.N. Mikhailovsky, and of course V.F. Komissarzhevskaya. In the summer of 1895, an outstanding event happened for the theatrical life of the city – Vera Komissarzhevskaya performed on the stage of the resort theater, and after the theater season, she received an invitation from the directorate of the imperial theaters – she was accepted into the troupe of the famous Alexandrian theater.
Continuing the theatrical traditions, the opening of the resort theater took place, to which it was decided to assign the name of the famous actress V.F. Komissarzhevskaya. In 2018, the theater was reconstructed as a cinema with the latest technology and equipment with the support of the Cinema Foundation. The hall accommodates 177 seats, films are broadcast both in 2D and 3D format.
