Four–chamber (local) baths are a hydrotherapy procedure for a certain part of the body. Local baths can be of different temperatures and duration, which determines the strength of their impact. During the procedure, the patient sits on a special chair, the height of which is adjusted with a screw, his hands and feet are immersed in baths filled to the same levels with warm water. The patient experiences tingling or a very weak uniform burning sensation. The procedures are carried out every other day.
Such baths have a beneficial effect on cardiac activity and cerebral circulation and can be carried out in cases of contraindication of shared baths. They also have a general effect on the body, increase the activity of metabolic processes in the tissues of the hands and feet, reduce pain and signs of inflammation.
The procedure is effective in the treatment of arthritis (rheumatoid, reactive); vibration disease; diabetes mellitus (diabetic polyneuropathy); diseases of the peripheral nervous system (neuritis, neuralgia); arterial hypertension; atherosclerosis of the vessels of the extremities (initial stage); consequences of bone fracture; trophic disorders (without ulcers).
The procedure is contraindicated in neoplasms; systemic blood diseases; violations of the integrity of the skin; decompensation of cardiac activity; pronounced atherosclerosis.
