Fluctuation is a method of electrotherapy that involves the use of alternating current.
The procedure is performed in the patient's prone position. With the help of electrodes and special pads, current is supplied to the patient's body. Depending on the current density, the patient may experience sensations ranging from a slight tingling sensation in the body to muscle contraction. The procedure lasts from 5 to 30 minutes, depending on the severity and nature of the disease.
Fluctuation suppresses impulses in the pain center, which means it has an analgesic effect. The current improves blood circulation, increases lymph formation and, as a result, helps the body cope with inflammation and accelerates recovery processes.
Fluctuating current therapy is most effective for the treatment of dental diseases (periodontal disease, alveolitis, pulpitis, abscess and many others), plexitis, neuralgia and neuropathies, causalgia, arthritis and arthrosis of small joints, myositis, cervical osteochondrosis, as well as inflammatory diseases of internal organs and some diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
Fluctuation is absolutely contraindicated for patients with malignant neoplasms, thrombobliterating processes, vibration disease, acute infectious diseases, hemorrhagic syndrome, hypertensive crisis, aortic aneurysm, obsessive-compulsive neuroses, tendency to bleeding, Meniere's syndrome and individual current intolerance.
