Galvanization is the use of direct electric current of low voltage and low strength for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes. Current is supplied to the patient through plate electrodes and pads. The patient feels a slight tingling sensation. The duration of the procedure is 10-40 minutes. With general galvanization, the number of white blood cells in the blood increases, and the metabolism improves. Low current helps to accelerate blood circulation.
The procedure is effective in treating the consequences of traumatic lesions of the brain and spinal cord, diseases of the central (with vegetative disorders inclusive) and peripheral nervous system; digestive organs; hyper- and hypotonic disease, coronary heart disease, atherosclerosis in the initial stages; chronic inflammatory processes; skin diseases; eyes; musculoskeletal system, bone fractures, chronic osteomyelitis, scleroderma; diseases of the female genital organs; some dental diseases.
Therapy is contraindicated in acute inflammatory and purulent processes; circulatory insufficiency; hypertension stage 3; systemic blood diseases; atherosclerosis; tendency to bleeding; feverish condition; eczema; dermatitis; violation of the integrity of the skin at the places of application of electrodes; individual intolerance to current; malignant neoplasms; disorders of skin sensitivity; fever; pregnancy; cachexia.
