Medicinal electrophoresis

Medicinal electrophoresis is a method of combined action on the body of direct current and drugs administered with its help. The procedure is performed in the patient's lying or sitting position. Electrodes with a hydrophilic gasket and filter paper with a medicinal substance applied to it are applied to the site of exposure and fixed. The patient feels a slight tingling sensation. The duration of the procedure is 10-40 minutes.
With the help of direct current, small and large particles of medicinal substances carrying an electric charge can be introduced. Charged particles are repelled from the electrode and go deep into the skin. Medicinal substances, coming from the skin into the blood and lymph, spread throughout the body and affect the tissues most sensitive to them. Electrophoresis has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, vasodilating, antispasmodic, sedative and secretory therapeutic effects, as well as specific pharmacological effects of the drug being administered.

Indications for use

The procedure is suitable for any indications for the use of a foretized medicinal substance and direct current.

Contraindications

Medicinal electrophoresis is contraindicated in patients with individual intolerance to drugs and the electric current itself.
