Yablochny Spas and the fair at the Staraya Russa resort

Another fair was held at the resort, where guests were able to buy and treat themselves to apples, honey, nuts, and teas collected on the land of Starorusskaya.

The Transfiguration of the Lord, or the Apple Savior in the vernacular, is a holiday in honor of Jesus Christ.
In Orthodoxy, the three main summer holidays are called Saviours, timed to coincide with important events of Christianity.

Honey Savior - in honor of the Origin of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, Apple – the Transfiguration of the Lord, Walnut - the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The tradition of sprinkling apples in Russia appeared with the introduction of the Greek calendar of festivals. On the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the Greeks blessed the "new fruits of the vine," that is, grapes. But in Russia, apples are a more familiar fruit, so another name for the holiday in honor of the Savior appeared – Apple Savior.
